Soho Editors, LumaForge and FCP.co are pleased to announce the
Presenting from the ShareStation Workflow Suite at Spaces Zuidas, Amsterdam.
This special event will take place on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September next to the RAI in Amsterdam and it will be hosted by Ronny Courtens, whom we all know from his many contributions to FCP.co. Ronny is a highly respected post-production professional with nearly 40 years of experience in the international film and television industry. He is also one of the world’s leading experts on FCP X, and he has helped major production and broadcast companies all over Europe make the transition to the new Final Cut Pro in the past years. We caught Ronny for a brief preview of what is going to happen at IBC.
Why did you decide to host this event?
I did a presentation at the FCP Expo during last year’s IBC, and I was really happy to see so many enthusiastic FCP X professionals there. When I heard that there were no plans for a similar event this year, I got together with the great people from LumaForge, FCPX Tour, FCP.co and Soho Editors, and we decided to take things in our own hands. The event will take place at the same venue as last year, but it will be a little bit different and also a little bit bigger.
What will people see at the FCPX Tour event?
- There will be a vast demo area with a large number of Macs, running on several shared storage systems from LumaForge. Here our visitors will get hands-on demonstrations and previews of the latest software, products, workflows, and third-party solutions for modern content creation. The full list of people and companies who will showcase their products will be published in a few days, but I can already say that the list is amazing.
One of the absolute highlights in our demo room will be the ShareStation, the world’s most advanced shared storage solution for creative professionals. Sam Mestman and his team will demonstrate the powerful little JellyFish and the enterprise-class Indie system connected to multiple Macs running every kind of post-production application in collaborative workflows. And of course everyone who visits our demo area will get a chance to play with these systems.
- Facing the demo area, we will set up a presentation area with a multicam recording studio where we will welcome some of the world’s greatest experts on FCP X as well as representatives of major European companies who use FCP X in film, television and broadcast workflows.
We had very little time to prepare this event, so we were afraid that we wouldn’t be able to get everyone we really wanted. But the response has been overwhelming. Some of our guests were not even planning on coming to IBC, but as soon as we talked about this event they immediately accepted to come.
We have people flying in from all parts of Europe, from the USA and even from Africa. Expect some very high-profile FCP X case studies, some wow-factor workflow demos, some unique FCP X tips and tricks and some very exciting announcements. All sessions will be recorded, and the videos will be published on FCP.co starting within a week after the event. We will publish the complete line-up in the next days.
Who should come to this event?
Actually, anyone who is involved in any kind of media production and post-production. Whether they already use FCP X or not.
The demo area is public, but people who wish to attend the recording of the presentations and interviews in the presentation area will need to register on the website of Soho Editors prior to the event. Actually, I would advise everyone to register. Why? Because some of our registered attendees will get a huge surprise that will make them very happy, and that’s all I can say about this. Registration will start on Thursday 25 August.
More details in a few days, and stay tuned here for the latest updates on this special event.
