Training Help

Help Resources

Firstly, we are long established as part of the post-production industry, and therefore have an excellent understanding of the market, and the skills that post-production staff need to have. We are not purely a training company, with other divisions of the group having a huge presence in the industry.

Secondly, unlike a lot of our competitors that provide training to the post-production industry, many of the courses we run are fully approved and certified, and will give you a recognised qualification if you pass the exam (more on this later).

We do not do general training – our courses are all industry specific, and we are experts in this field.

Thirdly, we're situated in the heart of London's post-production district – where better place to train on post-production technology?

Fourthly, the team here is friendly, helpful, efficient, understanding, flexible and approachable, and the trainers, as well as being all of the above, are fully qualified and certified, and all have significant industry experience and kudos as editors / talent in their own right.

We offer a no quibble Satisfaction Guarantee. We are so sure that not only will you enjoy the experience, as well as learn what you need from the course, that if you are not satisfied we will give you the same course again FREE of charge, it’s as simple as that, no argument*.

We are very proud to be recognised by so many of the world's leading post production software manufacturers for consistently high standards and customer satisfaction.

Through our manufacturer accreditation we are able to offer a full range of quality assessed certified courses, however we have also developed our own industry specific courses designed to release the creative person inside.

We can also fully bespoke and tailor any course to your liking. Take a look at our bespoke training section.

We are the preferred training provider for many leading media organisations including Viacom, ITV, BBC, Channel Five, Channel 4, BSkyB, Wall to Wall, Nomura Bank, to name but a few.

Soho Editors is a group of media companies with our training company specialising in post production, print and web training programs.

Other companies in the group provide freelance and permanent talent recruitment and consultancy services. Find out more.

The professional courses we run are usually Manufacturer Certified - the ones that aren't are still Industry Approved. This means that you will get certification or experience with the relevant manufacturer or software and proving your level of expertise if you pass the exam.

You can be assured of training to the highest possible standard, with your trainer being a qualified expert with significant current experience both professionally and as a trainer.

There are many benefits to being a Certified Pro. Find out more.

Not necessarily, but it will be good for your CV – you will actually have documentation stating you're a qualified user of the programme.

This is a recognised qualification within the industry, and more and more employers are looking for this.

Our trainers are very good at what they do, and for this reason we have approximately an 80% pass rate. If you don't pass, you can come back and retake the exam here at a time that suits you.

This incurs an administration fee of £75 + VAT. You will be offered the chance to book an exam to be taken on the last day of your training course, if available – if for any reason you don't take this at the time of your course you can come back and do it at a convenient time.

If you wish, and for some applications you can skip the relevant course (though we would suggest you take the course – you are much more likely to pass) and just do the exam, at a cost of £125 + VAT.

You can't take it at home; Apple, Adobe and Avid Certified Exams need to be invigilated by an Certified Trainer, in an Authorised Training Centre. Some more advanced certifications may require you to take a course, or have a lower level of certification prior to sitting an advanced exam.

Level One attests to the basic operational knowledge of the application – most applications will just have this level. Apple Logic and Avid Media Composer have a Level Two certification as well, which attests to a knowledge of the more advanced features and a deeper understanding of the application in general. Often the first level is required in order to take the level 2 course/exam.

All our classrooms can accommodate between 6 - 10 delegates at a time.

We think that's about the right number for people to get the attention they may need, whilst still working in a group atmosphere. We can provide one-on-one training or off-site training if you require it – take a look the off-site / bespoke page.

You can view pictures of our centres if you like.

No, we can send trainers to your own premises if you wish, where they can run the same courses that are run here, or we can create a bespoke training programme for you – take a look at the bespoke training page.

We can also provide all the workstations pre loaded with the relevant software and training material. Contact us for a quote.

If you don't see what you want contact us and we can help you find what you're looking for.

It depends on the course you're taking. If it's an Manufacturer Certified course you're taking, knowing your way round the Mac operating system is important (we can arrange pre-course training on this if needs be).

An understanding, even a basic one, of the terminology that comes with whatever field you're training in is also important i.e. if you are taking a Final Cut Pro Training course, an understanding of what editing is, the terms involved and a general understanding of the editing process are all necessary to hit the ground running when your training begins.

If you have any concerns about whether you're equipped to join one of our courses, or if you'd like to discuss the most suitable course for you, please get in touch.

All our regularly scheduled courses range between £250 - £1,500, however if you book more than 90 days in Advance you can SAVE 30% on the usual course fees.

Probably, if you want to get it at the best price, however we recommend you contact us and we will ensure you get the best value for money.

Save Up to 30% on the usual course fee

So sorry yes, the price you are offered is the best price available at the time.

Group bookings - If you have a number of people you want trained contact us and we can prepare the most cost effective quote.

You can, we call it a Pencil (can be rubbed out) but if someone else wants a place on the course that is willing to confirm, you will be notified, asked if you wish to confirm, and if you don't the place will go to the new candidate that's willing to confirm.

Please note, the only way to fully confirm your course place is to pay for it. If you aren't willing to pay for your training as soon as you've confirmed your place, you may lose your place to a delegate who is willing to pay for the training straight away.

Its also worth remembering the closer the course date gets the higher the price might be, so the sooner you confirm your place the cheaper it will be.

No problem, if you want to move your course, you are free to change or cancel your booking up to 30 days prior to the course start. see Change my Booking for more information about changing or amending your booking.

Cancelling: If it's within 30 days of the course start date, it depends on the amount of notice we have, and if we're able to fill the course place with somebody else.

We try to be as flexible as possible, and are fully aware of the problems that work sometimes creates, especially if you are a freelancer.

Cancellation fees:

8 - 30 days50%
