This Funding is for Editors looking to start Online Editing in DaVinci Resolve.

This programme is supported by ScreenSkills HETV skills fund with contributions for UK High end TV productions.

This Funding is to support 15 Editors from across the nation looking to transfer their Online Editing skills to Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 18 Studio. If you are a suitable candidate, you will receive for FREE:

  • 2 Days DaVinci Resolve Training from an Industry Experienced Certified Blackmagic Design Instructor
  • Training on a DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel
  • A full license for the latest version of DaVinci Resolve 18 Studio for you to keep.
  • Training covering Industry workflows used by professional DaVinci Resolve Online Editors.

What It Covers

In this two-day course, you will learn the industry workflow of online editing and finishing using Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve. You will become familiar with the toolset provided by DaVinci Resolve for dealing with the delivery requirements of a variety of broadcast and streaming platforms, learn colour grading theory and practice, and will be introduced to topics of Colour Spaces, Gamma/EOTF, HDR and Colour Management and how these relate to delivery specifications.

  • Overview of DaVinci Resolve feature set, focusing on colour grading, colour management, media management, vfx.
  • Benefits using Resolve for the online edit.
  • Preparing an Avid project for export.
  • Conform into Resolve
  • Relinking and trouble shooting in Resolve.
  • Resolve’s Media Management tool
  • Useful features for online editing in Resolve - Metadata, Edit Index, C-mode sort, Clip filters, Flags, etc.
  • Deliver from Resolve - Audio tracks, IMF export, Ungraded Archival Masters, etc.
  • Dealing with last minute changes to the 'locked' edit, including copying grades to a new conform and exporting files for the audio mixer to maintain sync and stay on the up to date version of the edit.


Who It's For

The aim of this training programme is to support experienced Editors at an early, experienced or expert career stage throughout the nation. Therefore, you must be in one of the below positions:

  • Currently an Avid Online Editor working within the UK Industry at an Early Career Stage
  • Currently an Avid Online Editor working within the UK Industry at an Experienced Career Stage
  • Currently an Avid Online Editor working within the UK Industry at an Expert Career Stage

And, you must also:

  • Have at least one Online Editing credit OR prove you are working to start Online Editing
  • Be currently residing within the UK
  • Right to Work Within the UK
  • Have an Established Connection to the UK Industry
  • Be of 18+ Years of Age

How to Apply

We have only 15 FREE places available in this programme, so spaces are limited. Therefore, to ensure you are eligible for the training, we have introduced the following application process:

  1. Choose your date from the options below and complete a Candidate Application and Questionnaire Form.
    (Closing Date of Applications is the 10 March 2023 for the last course or when all placements have been filled).
  2. We will asses your submitted application and CV.
  3. If successful, you will be asked to create a ScreenSkills account, and formally register for the course.

After Your Training

At the end of your course, you will receive:

  • An email containing the licenses for your DaVinci Resolve Studio Application.
  • A PDF of the general topics and tips covered throughout the course.
  • Access to a video library covering some of the course lessons.
  • A questionnaire directly from ScreenSkills assessing how your training went.

As this funding is supported by ScreenSkills, all successful applicants details will be shared with them, and you may be asked to supply further information throughout and after your training by them directly.
