The Role:

Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Technical Operations to help take the business forward and realise its ambitious plans.

Broad understanding of media and broadcast technologies, as well as digital systems is essential, together with expert knowledge of post-production techniques, as well as the ability to confidently use that expertise.

With a good working knowledge of media management tools and processes, exceptional attention to detail and a desire to improve processes on a continuous basis are vital to the role. The ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a track record of dealing with challenging situations are also required for this post.

Applicants will have the ability to maintain and manage third-party suppliers in a professional and open manner. They will be responsible for managing an operational team to deliver production requirements, whilst controlling the department's budget and capital expenditures.

Excellent at communicating, to the team and all clients, the status of projects and any impact on budgets, they will also be responsible for alerting and advising management on upcoming workloads and potential staffing needs.

The ideal candidate will have the proven ability to manage the Facility, ensuring that it is fully operational and at peak performance on a daily basis, and that their clients' technical and creative requirements are met. You will be required to provide proactive support and solution-finding for clients and their production.

The successful candidate will ensure the department's production fulfils all technical and quality industry standards, whilst maintaining a professional workplace to the highest possible standard for both employees and clients alike.

Applying strategic technical and operational knowledge to the department's growth and capability, you will improve facility operations, quality, and performance on a continuous basis. A self-motivated, well-organised team player who can prioritise busy schedules in response to changing business needs, you will also possess excellent people management abilities and previous team management experience.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Managing offline edits from ingest through to final post
  • Managing final post from conforms through to mastering
  • Managing quality control across locations ensuring all corrections are completed and documented
  • Managing the accurate creation and delivery of deliverables to all stakeholders and endpoints
  • Ensuring that content is editorially signed off and technically passed for transmission
  • Ensuring the timely delivery of content
  • Training clients and staff in the use of remote editing solutions
  • Managing and prioritising workloads of the staff Edit Assistants and freelance & staff talent pool


Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Baselight
  • Working knowledge of ProTools
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels of the organisation
