We are currently looking for a Senior Systems Engineer.

This role is an excellent opportunity to join our highly skilled engineering team that is providing support for over a 120 people. The role is based in a new, state of the art post production facility. The site boasts 3 professional Audio suites, 11 High-End edit suites and over 50 broadcast work stations. They also have a multiplatform VFX department, a professional print studio and most relevant to this role a new CGI department filled with exceptionally talented CGI artists.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Leading engineer in CGI and VFX and will require hands on management and technical support for the existing render farm, software applications and work stations.
    • Expanding and improving the existing infrastructure to ensure the technology is future proof, allowing the success of the department to grow.
    • Although the role’s main purpose will be the aforementioned CGI duties, they will not be limited to that at all. All projects will interlink with every department and each of the 3 sites.
    • Day to day duties will differ from one day to the next in this fast-paced and energetic facility.
    • The Engineering team is playing a crucial role in ensuring there is better connectivity and cohesion between sites and departments.

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE


    • Experience of working in a fast-paced CGI or VFX studio in a similar role.
    • Deployment of workstation builds, installation, licensing and troubleshooting tech issues with variety of specialist CGI/VFX software, renderers and associated plugins (i.e. Maya, Houdini, Nuke, C4D, Adobe CC, Arnold etc..)
    • A good understanding of maintaining and optimising render-farms using Deadline with a variety of contemporary renderers across both on-site and cloud-based services.
    • Experience of working across Mac, Windows and Linux
    • Knowledge of supporting a fibre connected SAN
    • Ability to manage storage area and move/archive data via CLI.
    • The ability to configure and troubleshoot a 10G Fibre Switch
    • Experience of working with Fibre and copper connections in a network area.
    • Python scripting experience
    • Experience in testing and rolling out operating system updates, software application updates and plugin updates across a whole or multiple sites.
    • Experience of configuring license servers, both physical and virtual ones.
    • An interest in keeping up to date with new and emerging technologies to support the team, as well as workflow enhancements. (i.e. AR/VR technology, GPU/real-time rendering solutions, Azure/AWS Cloud services etc..)
    • Excellent verbal/written communication, organisation and people skills.
    • Willingness to document, share and log any changes or knowledge across the team of engineers
    • In addition, practical experience of working with contemporary CGI/VFX pipelines would be useful to help create workflow efficiencies, automated processes and pipeline improvements to help develop and support the department.
    • Salary dependent on experience.

    DESIRABLE


    • General Broadcast Engineering Experience would be useful.
    • Previous experience of supporting Flame on CentOS and OSX
    • Some Pipeline TD experience/interest in developing tools and scripts to support workflow, system integration and automation.
    • Experience of tools/pipeline integration with VFX production tracking tools such as Ftrack, Shotgun or similar.
    • Previous experience of working on Quantum - Stornext XSAN
    • Knowledge or experience of supporting professional audio mixing suites and VO booths would be useful but not essential.
    • Ability to calibrate broadcast monitors using a fully calibrated probe.
