Sam’s bio
Sam Mestman is FCPWORKS’ Chief Workflow Architect. Sam’s also a regular writer for fcp.co and MovieMaker Magazine, teaches post workflow at RED’s REDucation classes, and is the founder and CEO of We Make Movies a film collective in Los Angeles and Toronto which is dedicated to making the movie industry not suck. Sam is also CEO and founder of Lumaforge System, which builds custom storage appliances optimised for Final Cut Pro X.

Pierre Chevalier is Softron’s CTO. Before working for Softron, he was Technical Director in various TV stations, so he has a good understanding of the requirements of live production. He is the link between the users and the development team, so he can gather feedback, feature requests and make sure these translate into the best products on the market.

Rory’s bio
One of the founding partners of Soho Editors Training, Rory has the great combination of extensive 'real world' post production experience and a proven track record as a highly skilled trainer.

Rory has been an editor and colourist for 20 years with credits ranging from feature films to commercials as well as extensive broadcast work.

He is an Apple accredited advanced trainer on FCP and an authorised Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve trainer.

He has also acted as a creative consultant for several major broadcasters helping them to maximize the creative potential of their postproduction resources.

Alex’s bio
Alex is an editor, an independent filmmaker and a much-sought after expert and presenter in Final Cut Pro.

As an editor, he has edited two feature-length films for legendary director Julien Temple (Scissor Sisters and Sex Pistols concerts).

As an early adopter of digital workflow he is valued highly by Apple and has taught Final Cut Pro in India, South Africa, the US and all over Europe.

In 2010 he supported the entire FCP-based FIFA 2010 World Cup post workflow in Johannesburg. Alex has been using FCP-X since day one and is one of Apple’s leading experts in this ground-breaking new paradigm for the industry.

Alex’s bio
Alex Gollner is a freelance editor based in London. As well as editing projects ranging from dramatic shorts to films for corporations and charities, he creates complex motion graphics sequences for large-scale live events.

In 2008 he discovered a bug in one of Final Cut Pro 6’s video effects. The bug that made it impossible for many international users to use scrolling text. Alex fixed the fault and uploaded a new version of the effect to the web. This was the first of many free Final Cut Pro plugins he's donated to the editing community since then, some of which have been used in network television productions and on feature films.

Thomas’s bio
Thomas Grove Carter is a commercials and music video editor who cuts at Trim Edit in East London.

After studying film at university and editing 16mm on a Steenbeck, Thomas went on to cut his teeth in the music videos working with artists like Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons and James Blake.

He's also been lucky enough to work with some of the most exciting directors, which led to an ever growing commercials reel featuring Honda, Perrier, Audi and Adidas.

Recently he won a Graphite Pencil at the D&AD's for editing Honda's interactive film, 'The Other Side'.

In a presentation based on real-world examples, Ronny will show how easy it is to set up a seamless multi-user workflow with Final Cut Pro X. He will explain best practices for managing projects and media on a shared storage system and how you can use the powerful organising and media management tools in FCP X to your advantage. Wether you collaborate with 3 people or with 50 people over a network, this presentation will give you all the information you need to create an effective workgroup environment with FCP X.

Ronny’s bio
Ronny Courtens is a post-­‐production veteran with 38 years of expertise in film and television collaboration workflows. He has lived in Darmstadt, London, Paris and Brussels working as an editor and a post-­‐production manager for national broadcasters and major post houses. He has travelled around the world producing documentaries, music videos and commercials. But most people know him from his contributions to the Final Cut Pro community, writing FCP X success stories for FCP.co and sharing his deep knowledge of Final Cut Pro with people around the globe. After having used FCP X in a large workgroup setup at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, he decided to take on a new hobby: helping production companies and broadcast facilities set up fast and reliable collaboration workflows with FCP X. With a staff of 200 people producing 300 hours of finished television content each year, Metronome Productions in Copenhagen is one of the major television production companies in the Nordics. Since 2013, the company has been porting their post-production work from Avid/Isis systems to new collaboration workflows built around FCP X.

Bas Van Oort discusses FCPX in a multiuser environment

Session description:
Bas introduces how the EO is using FCPX in a multiuser environment. He will talk about the main 3rd party plugins they use and how they share Library's between edit suites and editors.

Bas will be joined by an editor (Francesco Indaco) and a documentary filmmaker (Jan Willem den Bok).

Jan Willem is the creator of the FCPXTRA plugin. He will give a short demo of the plugin and how he uses FCPX.

Bas’s bio
In the twelve years that Bas was working for the EO TV he has grown from being a video production assistant, into editing and what he is doing today.

Right now Bas is a TV director and as well as directing five different shows he's responsible for overseeing ten Final Cut Pro X edit suits, the edit-support team and the development of the workflow and media management concerning those edit suites. In this role he managed the project of implementing FCPX and the phase out of legacy FCP.

This year the team and he have been very busy installing completely new hardware in EO TV's newly remodelled and redecorated edit suits.

And with that they said their final goodbye to legacy FCP.

Oliver Holtkamp discusses Primetime formats from RTL

Oliver will show how they work every day for the primetime TV. Oliver produces 7 days a week content in HD from 3,30 min Clips to 90 min documentaries, between 300GB footage to 24 TB and over. Schnittchen works in 8 edits with the new MacPros, Pegasus and Drobos and Ultrawide Screens on FCPX. Collaboration between edits without a server, only Gb-Network. He will show mac and FCPX together… they are really PRO.

Oliver Holtkamp has Worked for nearly 20 years in the professional video business. After a short time for industrial videos, he turned to TV and worked as a freelancer for VIVA, WDR, RTL, Sat1, Pro7, RTL2, ORF. Schnittchen was founded 2009 and produces broadcast content including documentaries, Infotainment, Entertainment & Commercials.

Emery Wells is the co-founder and CEO of Frame.io, a cloud based media collaboration platform with 50,000 members worldwide. Prior to Frame.io, Emery founded Katabatic Digital, a high-end post production facility in New York City that pioneered 4K tapeless workflows and was responsible for color grading over 100 digital shorts for Saturday Night.

360˚ VR Post-Production on the Mac

This short presentation by Tim Dashwood will familiarise producers, editors and VFX artists with some of the aspects of acquiring, posting & delivering 360 degree “virtual reality” video content. We will cover the technical considerations, challenges, terminology, and the new aesthetics of editing with immersive content. Dashwood will also demonstrate some of the post-tools he developed to assist with stereoscopic 360VR post-production, including plug-ins for Final Cut Pro.

Philip Hodgetts is an expert and consultant in digital production, post-production workflows and metadata-assisted editing. He is the President and CEO of Lumberjack System - muscular, real-time keywording and pre-editing for Final Cut Pro X. He remains President of Intelligent Assistance, Inc - a technology developer specialising in XML-integrated workflows for Final Cut Pro X and Premiere Pro CC.

He is an expert on metadata-based post production workflows and the author of “The HD Survival Handbook”; “Awesome Titles with FCS” and “The New Now: How to grow your production or post-production business in a changed and changing world”.

He is an experienced trainer, has written extensively online across a range of topics and presented at many conferences and seminars including many conference Keynote addresses.
